Late Night Blogging

Official blog time: 1:15 a.m.

I’m checking in a bit late tonight. I went to the Easter musical at Southeast Christian Church tonight with Chuck, Becky, Lori F. and some friends of Chuck. It’s always an amazing experience. I snapped several pictures, and I’ll create a photo gallery very soon.

Due to snow falling, we took our time driving home. We were home by around 11:45, but I had to make stops at the gas station and Wal-Mart on my way home. After a quick update of the Vertex site, a few posts on the Vertex message board, and some blogging, I’m ready for bed.

Current listening: Frank Sinatra - The Memorial Album
Verse of the Day:

Matthew 10:39 (Listen)

39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

(NIV) - Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Weekend Update

This may become a regular thing for me… hopping on here Sunday nights and giving a synopsis of my weekend.

Friday - I took off work a half-day early in order to get ready for Vertex. I had a lot of nervous/anxious energy, so I decided to go to the gym and hit the treadmill. I ran a few quick errands, grabbed some lunch and headed to Crestwood. The lead team spent the afternoon transforming Crestwood into the home of Vertex. The band (52seven) arrived around 4 p.m. and started setting up. As 8 p.m. approached, I learned that my trip to the gym didn’t work - I was still anxious.

At 8 p.m., Vertex officially started. Well… it was actually around 8:15. Pretty much everything went according to plan, aside from one or two very minor technical issues throughout the night. Dave Edwards gave an excellent sermon/lecture/whatever you want to call it. Afterward, the coffeehouse seemed to be a big hit.

We know of at least one person who made a decision to accept Christ, and three people that want to volunteer at Vertex. Woo hoo!

Saturday: I spent most of the morning and afternoon at work (due to leaving early on Friday). I still didn’t get done as much as I would’ve liked, but I’ll try and hit it hard on Monday. I came home and watched the rest of the UK game (another narrow victory). The rest of the afternoon/evening was spent working on the Vertex website and lounging around. I went over to Lori’s later that night to hang out with some people from church. Watching Forrest Gump ended up being the entertainment.

Sunday: I went to church this morning. This afternoon, I went up to Lexington to record the Central Kentucky Concert Band. They’re becoming a very well-playing group. I stopped by at home for a little while this evening, and now I’m back at the apartment. It’s 10:04 as I type this, and I’m going to try my hardest to be in bed in an hour. We’ll see….

VertexLive.net

I have officially launched VertexLive.net - my newest website. Head over and let me know what you think:

You’ve gotta be kidding me

Animal rights activists are upset about a new “road kill” candy.

I think this is hilarious:

“It sends the wrong message to children, that it’s OK to harm animals. And that’s the wrong message, especially from a so-called wholesome corporation like Kraft,” said society spokesman Matthew Stanton.

What are we supposed to do? Slam on the brakes, get out and help the animals along? Last I checked, people didn’t drive around trying to run over animals. It’s candy! Get over it!

Post Office Etiquette

I’ve always wondered something…

I go to the post office every few weeks to mail CDs to customers. The row of parking spots closest to the building is almost always empty. Am I right in thinking these are prime parking spots? They’re right next to the door. However, I see other cars pulling in, and they always park two or three rows back. Why? Am I missing out on post office etiquette? Are the front row spots reserved for elderly people? People with really heavy packages?

If someone could fill me in, I’d appreciate it.

Lots to do, too little time…

Have they invented the 36-hour day yet? What about that sleeping pill?

Another week of too much to do, and too little time. However, tonight was productive.

1. Financial Peace University - Session 2
2. Burned copies of LBB’s concert to mail to the director.
3. Completed a significant portion of the Vertex website.
4. Went to the gym
5. Watched/listened to UK slip by Auburn.
6. Burned the “Vertex Mix,” (house music for Vertex on Friday).
7. Blogged.

I still have plenty to do, but I think I’ve done enough for the night. I’m gonna play some March Madness and hit the sack…

Addicted to Sausage Balls

Scenario: There’s a food that you really like to eat, but you try not to eat it very often. Why? Because you know if you eat it a lot, you’ll want to eat it more often and in bigger helpings.

That food for me is sausage balls. I try to limit my sausage ball intake to around once a year. That’s usually at a family Christmas gathering when my grandmother makes them. A normal person might eat three or four. Maybe five or six. Not me. I’ll pop one or two every time I walk by the plate. By the end of the night, I’ll discover that I’ve eaten about ten or twelve sausage balls. No big deal, right? It’s just once a year. We only live once. All that jazz.

However, during my last trip to Kroger, I unfortunately discovered pre-made, pop-’em-in-the-oven sausage balls. I had some of them tonight, and I have to admit - they’re every bit as good as my grandmother’s.

I think I’ll be staying away from them the next time I’m in Kroger.

Looks Different

I’ve checked the look of this new blog in three different browsers - Internet Explorer & Mozilla Firefox for Windows, and Safari for Mac. The look is consistent in Explorer & Firefox. On the flip side, it has a fairly different look (which I like best) in Safari. I guess whoever created this template didn’t check the consistency of the look in different browsers. Oh well… I still like it.

First Post on New Blog

For those of you migrating over from my Blogger blog, welcome. I’m now using blog software powered by WordPress.

Templates are much easier to find for WordPress, although a bit harder to install. The current template I’m using is “summer breeze.” I like the simplicity and clean look it has. Let me know what you think!
