Proverb of Today
All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. -
Proverbs 14:2323 In all toil there is profit,
but mere talk tends only to poverty.
(NIV)
Off to Jonathan Creek
I’m going to one of my favorite places this weekend - Jonathan Creek. Our church’s youth is going for X-Fuge, and Building 429 will be in concert later tonight. I’ll be back on Sunday night with pictures and a weekend update. Adios!
Take It To The Streets
I just got back from my first outdoor jog of the spring. It was a great night to run, but I didn’t choose my route wisely. Lots and lots of hills. On the other hand, maybe I did choose my route wisely. I’ll sleep well tonight.
Yes, please.
AOL News - U.S. Coastlines May Be Next Frontier for Oil Drilling
Drilling in an Alaskan Wildlife Refuge? Not a good idea. Drilling off the coast, miles and miles away from existence? Yes!
Yeah, yeah. There’s still environmental issues with drilling in the ocean. Let’s give our forests and wildlife areas a rest though and explore elsewhere. After all:
An estimated 16 billion barrels of oil and 78 trillion cubic feet of natural gas lie in offshore areas currently off-limits, according to government and industry statistics. That’s enough oil to meet total U.S. demand for more than two years and enough natural gas to supply the country for three and a half years.
Let’s do it!
Cell Phone 3.0

Meet my new cell phone - the Kyocera SE47 Slider. It replaces my current phone, which I’ve had for about two years. The earpiece connection was going bad, and I’ve noticed a decline in battery life, so I decided to upgrade. I’m still figuring out all the bells and whistles, but it seems to be a very cool phone - way cool considering I paid $30 for it.
More to the Makeover?
I don’t get to watch too many shows on a regular basis. I try to catch The Simpsons when I get home from work (although Fox 56 has been on the fritz as of late). I used to enjoy Insomniac with Dave Atell on Comedy Central - when I had access to cable. I also enjoy older episodes of Saturday Night Live - you know… when they were actually funny. Aside from these and a few other shows, I usually end up watching whatever seems to be the most enjoyable at the time I turn on the TV (not too often).
Over the past several weeks, I’ve happened to be home and in a TV-watching mood around 8 p.m. on a Sunday night. This also happens to be the time slot for ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover.
I’ll spare you the details of the show’s entertainment factor, as I’m sure most of you have watched it at least once. The one thing I wonder every time I watch the show - are any of these people Christians?
The show’s star, Ty Pennington, shares the same profession as the Son of God - carpentry. Ty, along with the cast and crew, also shares the same interest as Jesus - helping those in need.
I can’t but think, if these people aren’t Christians, why or why not?
