No Pain No… Losing Weight?

After several months of irregularly attending the gym, I’ve seemingly fallen back into a routine. At one point, I was down to 175lbs. - the same weight I was at 18 years old. I stopped going regularly, but was satisfied that I’d been able to stay around 180. Last Monday night, I discovered I was up to 189. That was enough motivation to start going regularly again.

I cycled five days last week, averaging buring around 300 calories each time. I’ve found that I enjoy cycling because you can sit there and read a book, listen to music, watch TV, talk on the phone - all at once, if you wish. When you’re jogging on a treadmill, you’re limited to music and/or TV. The advantage to jogging is you can burn more calories quicker than cycling. But, then again, the cycling is less taxing and more enjoyable.

I’ve set a goal to burn 1500-2000 calories per week (about a full day’s worth of food). As long as I can stay commited, it shouldn’t take too long to get back to around 175, and possibly my goal weight of 170 (supposedly, my recommended weight for my body mass index).

I had good night tonight - jogged & walked for about 45 minutes, and cycled for another 10 minutes, burning a total of 500 calories. I’m up to 800 calories burned so far this week.

And now… it’s time for bed!

Halloween

Saturday night, I’ll be heading to the only Halloween party that I’ll attend this year. Surprisingly, it didn’t take me long to figure out a costume. The problem was whether or not I’d be able to get the costume. Turns out, it wasn’t too difficult.

I called up Mike West, whom I used to play with in the Saxton’s Cornet Band. I asked for a Union uniform, and he said it’d be no problem. I’m picking it up on Thursday night.

So, there you have it. I’m going to be a civil war soldier for Halloween.

AZZ

You did a double-take too, huh? I’ve wondered if anyone else has noticed.

While driving around the last few weeks, I’ve started seeing more and more people with the new Kentucky license plate. However, I’ve been surprised to see more than one - at least three different vehicles - with an “AZZ” suffix on their plate.

What’s up with this? The first person to give me an explanation gets lunch on me.

Georgetown College - Kentucky Baptist Convention Agreement

Georgetown College has seperated from the Kentucky Baptist Convention to become its own governing body.

Georgetown College - Kentucky Baptist Convention Agreement

I suspect this will open up new financial opportunities for the College, though I’m only speculating. Reason being, President Crouch is known for being a money-hungry leader, and the College has been in a financial bind for the last several years. Otherwise, I can’t figure a reason for the split.

I hope this will result in a stronger relationship between the two organizations.

Wishlist

1. Sleeper sofa to replace my aging fouton. If you know of anyone giving one away, or know where to find a good deal on one, please let me know!
2. 5-drawer chest. My current three drawer chest has exceeded capacity due to my employment at a t-shirt print shop. T-shirts out da ears, yo. And yes, I wear them all. Requirements - simple, clean design (preferrably a contemporary style), and preferrably lighter than a small vehicle. I don’t want another hernia trying to move it around. Picky, huh?
3. 80GB portable hard drive. I’d like FireWire, but I’m seemingly stuck with USB unless I want to pay a small fortune.

(there’s plenty of other, much more materialistic items on the list, but these are the things I want the most right now)

MP3ing My Life Away

I’ve continued the process of MP3ing my entire CD collection this week. So far, I’m through the “M” section of my main CD rack (yes - it’s alphabetical - how else would I find a particular CD among the masses?). This does not include baby CD Racks #1 & 2, or my four large CD carrying cases (not all of which will get MP3ed).

I’ve now exceeded the 40GB plateau, which poses an interesting problem. My intention of selling my 20GB iPod in favor of a 40GB model is now up in the air. I’m confident I’ll approach the 60GB plateau of MP3 storage by the end of this process.

My initial thought is that I’ll purchase a portable 80GB hard drive. Something I can use at home and at work (the two places I listen to music the most) to store my iTunes music library (MP3 library - whatever you want to call it). This will save me the trouble of selling my current iPod, and should be more cost-effective in the long run. Whenever I need something to listen to music away from the computer (gym, in the car, etc.), I’ll take along the iPod stored with 20GB of music of which I’m currently inclined to listen.

I can hear you now - why can’t I be satisfied with a 20GB iPod? You see - I need to have my entire music collection with me at all times. I never know what I’ll be in the mood to listen to. Just today, I thought, “I’d like to listen to some John Mayer.” Turns out, I only had THREE of his songs on my iPod. Entire music collection with me at all times? Problem solved.

Who Dey!

How ’bout them Bengals? They started slow, but the defense helped get the offense going. It didn’t hurt that the Titans gave us a couple of freebees in the fourth quarter. I wouldn’t say we beat the Titans as much as I’d say the Titans beat themselves. But, a win’s a win!

Crestwood - Awakening Service MP3s

I have been recording Crestwood’s early service for a little over a year now, with the sermons being posted on the church’s website each week. In an effort to reach more people, I’m going to start posting the links on here as well. Enjoy this week’s children’s sermon and Rick’s sermon on Job…

I Promise I’m Still Alive

For those that may be wondering…I’m still alive and well. I don’t really have too much of an excuse for my lack of blogging other than laziness. So… how about some random blogging?

Tonight, I paid off my final credit card. I don’t owe evil credit card companies one red penny. FCHS plays WHHS tomorrow night, and I’m going with a group of friends from church (I should just call them “friends” because I don’t have too many “friends” outside of church - maybe a bad thing?). I spent last night cleaning my apartment from top to bottom in anticipation of a post-game hang-out session, which may involve a movie. Predestination versus Free Will - the great debate inside my mind for the past few weeks (leaning more toward predestination until I discover some biblical evidence of free will - possibly more-to-come on this subject). Kroger brand chocolate chip cookies are out-of-this-world good. I spent way too much at Kroger tonight for a single person. Insense (if I spelled that right) is the best bang-for-your-buck air freshener on the market. MP3-ing my entire CD collection has kept me from spending money on new albums the last few weeks. Fortunately for me, I have a solid 300 CDs to go and not much money in the bank! My mom’s dog (Bailey) is the best dog on the face of the earth. My wish-list is almost entirely products made by Apple. Cable TV is growing on me. Recording episodes of Lost and watching them later is causing cable to grow on me. I’m still waiting for someone to invent a stop-time button. Why can’t we have 36 hours in a day? If you don’t have a copy of the new Josh Martin Band live CD, email me. Everyone and their mother should have one. God said so. I love the fall and cooler weather - most of my better clothes are items with long sleeves, or pants. I finally found a pizza I don’t care for - the new Papa John’s pan pizza.

Thus concludes my latest random blogging post.
