Torn

without comments

I experienced something I’ve never had to experience before tonight. I had to root against the University of Kentucky basketball team. That’s because they were playing an exhibition (a game that doesn’t really count, as far as records and stats go) against my alma mater, Georgetown College. It was an odd feeling hoping that UK would lose. I’ve never wanted that to happen.

In fact, at one point, it slipped my mind who UK was playing and I caught myself being excited that UK had just scored. Then, I came to my senses and went back to cheering for the Tigers.

Georgetown represented themselves well, despite losing by 22 points. It’s funny to think that at some point this year, UK will probably beat a solid NCAA team by the same margin. Both schools seemingly have extremely promising seasons ahead of them. I hope that come March, I find myself excited to see Georgetown bringing home the NAIA championship and UK winning the NCAA title. We may have to revisit this post in a few months…

What Time Is It?

without comments

Some peculiar you might notice about my apartment - the number of time-keeping devices that are present. In no particular order:

1. Cell phone
2. (2) Two wall clocks
3. (3) Three alarm clocks
4. Stove
5. Microwave
6. DVD Recorder
7. (2) Two watches

If you want to get picky…

8. (2) Two computers synced with “official” U.S. time
9. Cable TV

Perhaps if I paid more attention to some of these time-keeping devices I’d make a little more of my time?

Verse of the Day

with one comment

Teach us to make the most of our time, so that we may grow in wisdom. -

Psalm 90:12

12 So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom.

(NLT)

I have not been making the most of my time as of late. Whether at work or at home, I haven’t been putting forth a strong effort. I get what I need to get done, but not as quickly as I should. At home, procrastination has been a disease as of late. Especially with my business stuff (recordings, websites). This verse is helping me refocus my efforts this week by honoring God with how I spend my time.
