Okay people.  I need some answers.  I’ve been searching for answers.

Two weeks ago, a friend and I had a deep discussion on the topic of divorce and remarriage.  This friend has been divorced for a long time and is a Christian.  His divorce was biblical in that his spouse was unfaithful.  He is now dating a girl who is also divorced.  She is also a Christian and her divorce was also biblical in nature, due to adultery.  The question I have been asking is this:  Is it right, biblically, for these two to marry?  Should their relationship progress to the point of them wanting to get married, is it right for them to marry each other?

By coincidence, Desiring God posted this article on their site today.  Even before reading this article, through searching the Bible, I had personally come to the conclusion that the answer to my above question is no.  It is not right for my friend to marry this girl.  It seems to me that John Piper tends to agree with this answer.

Does this seem harsh?  Yes.  I want nothing more than for my friend to be happy.  This girl makes him happy, and they are both Christians.  It seems very logical they should be able to marry.  But, in searching through Scripture, I can’t find a conclusion that would make it a “right” or “just” marriage.  From what I have found, it would be biblical for them to stay single or be reconciled to their former spouses.

I want to be wrong.  I’m asking all of you out there to prove me wrong.  I want to be shown that it is right for these two to move toward marriage and follow through if their relationship progresses to that point.  I want them to hold Scripture in high regard and submit to its authority.  The question is, what does it say on this subject?

After taking a break from adding any new clients to my portfolio for BADmedia, I’m opening up the doors again.  I’ve been thinking of ways to supplement my income.  I’m still tossing around the idea of doing some part-time work, but I think the most effective use of my time would be taking on more website clients.  My goal is to add one website client per month for a year.
