Bibles for….Sale?

with 2 comments

As most of you know, I have a fairly extensive Bible collection.  This stems from my (fairly) recent salvation (three years ago) and my desire to find the right Bible for me.  I still can’t say there’s one Bible I like the best, but I’ve at least narrowed down my selection.  With that said, and since I’m getting ready to move, I’m cleaning “house.”  I’m getting rid of old Bibles that I no longer use.  I would love to get some sort of money out of these, but should there be no takers, I’ll end up donating them to some sort of Bible drive.  Here’s what I’d like to get rid of:

NOTE:  SOME BIBLES HAVE OCCASIONAL UNDERLINED AND/OR HIGHLIGHTED SCRIPTURES.  MOST HAVE BEEN RARELY USED

  • A simple copy of the good ol’ King James Version.  This would be FREE to a good home.
  • Plain-and-simple Italian Duo-Tone NIV - a sharp little Bible that’s been rarely used.  $20.
  • Paperback Every Man’s Bible (New Living Translation, 1st edition).  A great Bible for men.  $10.
  • Compact New Century Version.  May be a good Bible for younger children - easy to read & understand.  $10.
  • Compact New Living Translation (1st edition) with leather cover.  Feels great in your hands.  I may end up keeping this one as it was the first Bible I purchased after getting saved.  Unless someone really wants it.  $15.
  • (another) compact New Living Translation (1st edition) with larger print & concordance.  $15.
  • Archaeological Study Bible (hardcover).  I think I’ve opened this maybe twice since buying it.  It’s the most popular Bible on the market right now, according to Amazon.com.  I would really like the leather-bound version instead.  Excellent condition (no underlined passages in this).   $35.

The Bibles that I’m keeping include:  NLT 2nd edition Life Application Study Bible, NLT 2nd edition Student’s Life Application Study Bible, NLT 2nd edition compact, ESV Scofield Study Bible III, Thinline ESV, NIV Study Bible, Quest Study Bible (NIV), NKJV Spirit Filled Bible, NKJV compact, and The Message Remix.  I’m also keeping the Bible I received for my college graduation that has my name etched into the cover.  It is a Today’s English Version.

  1. The compact New Century Version…do you think that would be good for an exchange student? I want to get something easy to understand, but not too “kiddish”. I just ordered the Spirit of the Reformation Study Bible for myself and I can hardly wait to get it. It was a recommendation from Pastor Rick. :)

  2. Maybe you can sell all of those bibles and buy the JMB a new mixer! Probably even have money to spare!
