Blog Cleaning
I’ve been doing a little “blog cleaning” tonight (”house cleaning” in the real world). As you can see, I’m using a new theme. It’s a combination of a theme authored by someone else and a little of my own creation mixed in. The picture is of downtown Minneapolis, taken by yours truly. This is pretty simplistic, so I may tweak it a bit more. Then again, simple is good. We’ll see.
The focus of this site is going to shift slightly. From now on, it will be an entirely personal site. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be transitioning any and all BADmedia info over to a new site dedicated to BADmedia. I’ll be launching the BADmedia site soon.
If any of you out there are referencing my site from “www.brianandrewdodson.com/blog,” please update your bookmarks to reference “www.brianandrewdodson.com” instead. The “/blog” part is getting deleted soon. This will also affect any RSS feeds that reference “/blog.”
Thanks to Wordpress, I’ve imported all of my posts from the “/blog” setup to this one in the root directory. It took all of about five minutes. Yet another glorious part of using Wordpress.
Back to your regularly scheduled blog reading.
New Photos, New Theme
I’ve been busy updating my Flickr site the past several days. You can keep up with any new photos I’ve posted by clicking on the “My Photos” badge to the right. The main thing I need to do is get them organized on my computer. I’m using iPhoto to help me with this, and both Flickr & Facebook offer some very-easy-to-use plugins for iPhoto that make uploading them a breeze.
As you can also tell, I’ve switched the look of the site again. I came across this theme on the Wordpress Theme Viewer and decided to give it a shot. The only thing I plan on doing is creating a custom header and changing the pictures that are used with the theme - I did not take them.
I also installed a plugin that shows what song(s) I have playing on my computer at the time of the post. Kinda neat, mostly unimportant.

Curt Schilling’s Blog
I’ve been meaning to point people - particularly, baseball fans - to Curt Schilling’s blog, 38 Pitches. It’s interesting to read about each of his pitching performances directly from him - how he handled each batter, which pitch to throw in which situation, etc. Of particular note is his detailing of his recent game against Oakland in which he almost threw a no-hitter.
Marc - I know you’re a Yankee fan, so it may be a little like me going to a Louisville Cardinals blog, but since you’re a baseball fan, check it out!
Wordpress for Governor Hopefuls
Democratic candidate for Governor, Jody Richards, is using Wordpress to power his campaign website. It’s a fairly simple design, but I’m a fan of simple.
Anne Northup is also using Wordpress. A little more visually appealing.
This Just In: Wordpress Takes Over the World, Justin’s Blog is Back
I’m excited to see two fellow bloggers move over to Wordpress:
> Shane McGrath
> Derek Hughes
In other blog news, it’s good to see Justin finally figured out his blog troubles.

This Blog It Is a Changin’
As you can see, there’s some renovatin’ goin’ on in these parts of the blogosphere. I’ve finally mustered up enough self-discipline to actually work on my own website. Yes, it’s a sad state of affairs when I go and make everyone else’s websites look real purdy, but can’t seem to keep my own neat and tidy. I’d been toyin’ with the idea of creatin’ my own Wordpress template, but there just ain’t enough time in the day for this here website-designin’ bloke. So, I browsed around the Wordpress theme directory and found this neat-and-clean (”so fresh and so clean” as my good friends Outkast would say) theme.
You’ll also notice, I’ve rigged it up with my root directory - briananandrewdodson.com. Now, my website and blog are one-and-the-same. I’ve only been able to create a few of the pages so far, but keep checkin’ back, as I’ll be gettin’ around to some more renovatin’ real soon. Check back for updates such as - Drums, Music, Calendar & Contact pages, the return of my Flickr badge in the sidebar, an eBible badge and possible Verse of the Day dohickey in the sidebar, and hopefully lots more new-and-excitin’ features.
Y’all come on back now, ya hear?
Oh Snap!
No… this isn’t a post about catchy new lingo that you’ll hear at the latest “yo momma” put-down contest. This post fits into the “cool new Internet feature” category. If you’re a blog owner, webmaster, or have anything to do with websites, I suggest you use this cool new feature. It’s called Snap - when you scroll over a link on a page, it pops up a small preview of that page. I dig it. It took me less than two minutes to have it up-and-running on this site. If you have trouble, I can help you…

Happy Birthday Blog
As of yesterday, my blog is two years old. I originally started this over at Blogger, but quickly moved to Wordpress. It’s been fun to share a little bit of my boring life with anyone that may stumble across my blog. It’s also been encouraging that I’ve motivated others to start their own blogs. Feel free to explore the “archives” to see some of my first posts. Also, feel free to explore other blogs in my blogroll. Better yet - create your own blog! There’s plenty of free options out there, and I’m always glad to help people get started.
New Links
Check out the sidebar for a couple of new links:
- I helped Rick set up Wordpress on his new site - Pointifications.com. Welcome to the “dot com” world, Rick.
- Jeremy has set up a new site for the Frankfort Area Angel Food Ministries - frankfortafm.com. He is also using Wordpress to power his site. There’s a rumor that sooner or later, he’ll become a blogger.
