Gearing Up For Seattle
In a few weeks, I’m going to the Resurgence Conference in Seattle. The conference is titled Text & Context, and I’ll be hearing the likes of Mark Driscoll, John Piper, CJ Mahaney and a few others. I’m pretty excited about the trip, and I’m pretty anxious for it to get here! Joining me on the trip will be Rick, Jeremy, Shane, Tim Chase & John Martin. It will be tough for that group to stay out of trouble, I’m sure.
I always enjoy traveling, and especially going to new places. Rick, Jeremy and Shane all experienced Seattle previously, so they’re veterans. Getting to see Mars Hill Church will be interesting, as will all the sights around Seattle. I’ve heard the seafood is tremendous, so I’m sure we’ll eat well. I will, of course, have my camera, so be looking forward to pictures.
Most of our trip’s logistics are already in place - plane tickets, car rental, hotel, and conference registration. All that’s left is for the time to get here and for us to all show up to get on the plane. It should be a great time!
EMHE Air Date
I’ve just received word that on February 17th, the Extreme Makeover Home Edition in which CLS was a part of will be airing. The show will be a two-hour special, starting at 7 p.m. Be sure to watch and keep an eye out for the black and white curtains we printed.

Thoughts Before Behold the Lamb of God
Tonight is the final rehearsal for Behold the Lamb of God before our performances Friday and Saturday night. As I did with the JMB DVD, I figured I’d post some thoughts before it’s “go time.”
- Being a part of this has been a huge blessing. I continue to be blessed with amazing opportunities to perform music with amazing people.
- Derek - thank you for asking me to play.
- Derek - I’ve been extremely proud to see you develop as not only a musician, but a lead musician over the past year. I was impressed with you this summer at Crossings, and I’ve been impressed throughout the process of this project. God has wonderful things in store for you, my friend.
- John - thank you for taking care of logistics. Anyone involved knows that you could easily be on stage with us performing. Instead, your servant’s heart took over and you have played an extremely important role “behind the scenes.” We appreciate you taking care of all the details for this.
- The “extras” - John has lined up a bunch of people to help with this, and I don’t know all of them. But, thanks anyway. From promotional materials, to helping with the performance, all of you are helping to make this great.
- Randy & Jeremy - thanks for helping make us sound good. We’re keeping you on your toes and you’re keeping up like it’s child’s play.
- Rick & TPCC people - thanks for hosting the event. I’m blessed to be a part of this great church and sit under the teaching of a great pastor.
- I’m extremely pleased that this has become a multi-church production. All Frankfort churches have had a reputation for not wanting to work together, and we’re starting to break down those walls. I pray that we will eventually remove the walls completely and focus more on the Kingdom than what happens inside of the four walls of each of our respective churches. After all, we’re going to be at the same place someday. We might as well learn to get along now! Thanks for all the different churches represented in this production.
- “So Long, Moses” is the most difficult song, but also my favorite. It’s been a fun challenge to learn the odd structure of the song.
- I’ll be recording both nights (duh). I pray that we get a good recording that can be shared with others who aren’t able to make it. Also, for people to enjoy long after the performances.
- I pray for those in attendance that are lost. I pray that the message of the songs ring loud and clear in their hearts and they may come to know Christ.
- Thank you, God, for your Word and your Son - the message of these songs. May you be honored and glorified, and may your honor and glory be our sole purpose.

Extreme Makeover Recap
CLS on WLEX
Here’s the spot WLEX ran tonight on CLS. I will be uploading pictures tomorrow, after our trip to Louisville!
It’s Official
This post has been hard to keep under wraps for the past week or so. But, it’s now official - CLS has been contacted by ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition to do some work for them on a current project in Louisville. I haven’t wanted to say anything until I knew it was going to happen.
They contacted us a little over a week ago to do screen printing on curtains and pillow cases. Normally, this is outside of our realm, but considering the customer, we were glad to help! I coordinated art work with them today, and I believe Dwayne and Jana took care of the printing this evening.
As part of the deal, we have been told we are welcome on the site as much as we would like. As of right now, we are planning to make a group trip up to Louisville tomorrow evening. As I’ve pondered before, I may get some of my questions answered. Stay tuned for updates and pictures!
[11/12 4:00 p.m. UPDATE: The State Journal sent over a photographer this morning to get shots of the fabric being printed. Someone from the show's crew has stopped by to pick up the printed fabric. We are currently waiting on a crew from WLEX, who is also coming by to do a story. A group from CLS is planning to head to Louisville tomorrow evening to tour the site and possibly help out.]
Behold the Lamb of God
This Christmas, I will be participating in a presentation of Andrew Peterson’s Behold the Lamb of God. If you don’t already have plans, keep December 21st and 22nd open. One or both of those dates will be the night(s) of the performance. The likely location is The Point, but that hasn’t been settled just yet, either. I know, I know… we need to get the details together.
Peterson is a member of the popular group Caedmon’s Call. He’s also done a significant amount of solo work, including this release. Think of this as a modern version of a Christmas cantata. The music is a mix of folk and bluegrass in style. It’s the type of Christmas album you can listen to year-round. I really, really like it.
I’ll be playing drums and percussion. Derek Hughes will be playing guitar and leading a lot of the songs (I think?). Josh Martin will play bass. Many other local musicians from several churches will make up the rest of the band. It’s been encouraging to hear about how many different musicians from different churches will be a part of this.
I’ll post more details as they’re available, but you won’t want to miss this!
Internet Affair
We’ve all heard the weird stories. Twins leave their house at the same time on their way to see the other and crash into each other on the highway. I’m sure you’ve heard similar stories. Today’s odd story of the day…
A married couple were both chatting with significant others on the internet. When they decided to meet, they found out they were talking to each other. Now, they’re getting divorced. Read the article here.

9/11: Where Were You?
Tomorrow is the fifth anniversary of one of our nation’s worst tragedies. These types of things always beg the question, “Where were you when it happened?”
I was a senior at Georgetown College. I had a pretty cool schedule that semester - no classes before 11 a.m. Sleeping in was an every day thing for me. On this particular day, I woke up to the sound of sirens. I could hear my dorm neighbor in the hallway talking to someone. They were talking about something crashing into a building. Since I heard sirens, I thought maybe someone had crashed their vehicle into one of the buildings on campus. I happened to turn on the TV and quickly found out what had actually happened.
By the time I found out, both buildings had already been hit, and one had already collapsed. Shock and amazement set in when I saw people hanging out of and jumping from windows. Seeing the second building collapse and knowing there were still people inside was unbelievable. It was hard to realize this wasn’t Hollywood. We watch movies with death and destruction and almost think it’s “cool” because we know it isn’t real. This was quite real.
Georgetown canceled classes that day. There was a prayer service held in the chapel that afternoon, but I didn’t attend. I had not yet become a Christian, so any thoughts of God, or how He could let something like this happen, were far from my thoughts. I ended up going to Lexington that afternoon. I was taking piano lessons at the time and needed to pick up a book that my instructor told me to get. It was surreal to drive into Lexington and not see planes flying overhead, coming into and leaving from Bluegrass Airport.
