CLS on WLEX
Here’s the spot WLEX ran tonight on CLS. I will be uploading pictures tomorrow, after our trip to Louisville!
It’s Official
This post has been hard to keep under wraps for the past week or so. But, it’s now official – CLS has been contacted by ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition to do some work for them on a current project in Louisville. I haven’t wanted to say anything until I knew it was going to happen.
They contacted us a little over a week ago to do screen printing on curtains and pillow cases. Normally, this is outside of our realm, but considering the customer, we were glad to help! I coordinated art work with them today, and I believe Dwayne and Jana took care of the printing this evening.
As part of the deal, we have been told we are welcome on the site as much as we would like. As of right now, we are planning to make a group trip up to Louisville tomorrow evening. As I’ve pondered before, I may get some of my questions answered. Stay tuned for updates and pictures!
[11/12 4:00 p.m. UPDATE: The State Journal sent over a photographer this morning to get shots of the fabric being printed. Someone from the show's crew has stopped by to pick up the printed fabric. We are currently waiting on a crew from WLEX, who is also coming by to do a story. A group from CLS is planning to head to Louisville tomorrow evening to tour the site and possibly help out.]
Behold the Lamb of God
This Christmas, I will be participating in a presentation of Andrew Peterson’s Behold the Lamb of God. If you don’t already have plans, keep December 21st and 22nd open. One or both of those dates will be the night(s) of the performance. The likely location is The Point, but that hasn’t been settled just yet, either. I know, I know… we need to get the details together.
Peterson is a member of the popular group Caedmon’s Call. He’s also done a significant amount of solo work, including this release. Think of this as a modern version of a Christmas cantata. The music is a mix of folk and bluegrass in style. It’s the type of Christmas album you can listen to year-round. I really, really like it.
I’ll be playing drums and percussion. Derek Hughes will be playing guitar and leading a lot of the songs (I think?). Josh Martin will play bass. Many other local musicians from several churches will make up the rest of the band. It’s been encouraging to hear about how many different musicians from different churches will be a part of this.
I’ll post more details as they’re available, but you won’t want to miss this!
Internet Affair
We’ve all heard the weird stories. Twins leave their house at the same time on their way to see the other and crash into each other on the highway. I’m sure you’ve heard similar stories. Today’s odd story of the day…
A married couple were both chatting with significant others on the internet. When they decided to meet, they found out they were talking to each other. Now, they’re getting divorced. Read the article here.

9/11: Where Were You?
Tomorrow is the fifth anniversary of one of our nation’s worst tragedies. These types of things always beg the question, “Where were you when it happened?”
I was a senior at Georgetown College. I had a pretty cool schedule that semester – no classes before 11 a.m. Sleeping in was an every day thing for me. On this particular day, I woke up to the sound of sirens. I could hear my dorm neighbor in the hallway talking to someone. They were talking about something crashing into a building. Since I heard sirens, I thought maybe someone had crashed their vehicle into one of the buildings on campus. I happened to turn on the TV and quickly found out what had actually happened.
By the time I found out, both buildings had already been hit, and one had already collapsed. Shock and amazement set in when I saw people hanging out of and jumping from windows. Seeing the second building collapse and knowing there were still people inside was unbelievable. It was hard to realize this wasn’t Hollywood. We watch movies with death and destruction and almost think it’s “cool” because we know it isn’t real. This was quite real.
Georgetown canceled classes that day. There was a prayer service held in the chapel that afternoon, but I didn’t attend. I had not yet become a Christian, so any thoughts of God, or how He could let something like this happen, were far from my thoughts. I ended up going to Lexington that afternoon. I was taking piano lessons at the time and needed to pick up a book that my instructor told me to get. It was surreal to drive into Lexington and not see planes flying overhead, coming into and leaving from Bluegrass Airport.
If you’re interested in leaving your story, feel free to post a comment.
More Random Blogging
I’m planning on posting a couple of extensive posts soon (more theological in nature), but for now, we’ll have to settle for some more random blogging:
- That bridge that collapsed in Minneapolis? Yeah, Josh and I drove across that bridge last fall when we went to the Desiring God conference. For some first-hand coverage of the situation, visit Desiring God.
- I’m halfway through Chasing Daylight (woo hoo!). The posts mentioned above will deal with my reading of this book. Look for them this weekend, or early next week.
- I’m excited about the previously mentioned internet ideas that CLS is pursuing. I will likely share more about these this weekend, as well. I didn’t come up with the ideas, but there is one in particular that I have done the majority of the work for so far, so I’m particularly interested in the result of that idea.
- The JMB DVD is nearing completion! We will preview the DVD this weekend and see how it’s coming along. Bert has been hard at work mixing the camera angles together for your viewing enjoyment. We should have it completed in the very near future – just in time for our slate of fall concerts that are coming up soon.
- I’m buying a new ride cymbal tomorrow – a 20″ Sabian HHX Manhattan ride. I’ve had my eye on it for quite some time and found a person getting rid of one in Lexington. He’s going to be in Frankfort tomorrow, so I’ve made arrangements to meet up with him and do business. You can hardly find them used on eBay, which is one reason it’s taken me a while to get one. New, they go for $350. Yeah – not gonna shell out that much for a cymbal that I don’t “need.” But, I’m getting it at a great price and it will satisfy my desire for a jazz sounding drum set. It’s designed to sound like the popular rides from back in the day when jazz ruled the music world.
- Speaking of money, I paid off my biggest interest-bearing debt today! I’d originally planned on paying it off over the next two months, but I was itching to pay it off. So, I took some money out of savings and paid the sucker off.
This post may break my personal record for most categories used. Stay tuned for more this weekend…
Trouble at the Arch
Two hundred people got trapped in the St. Louis Arch yesterday. Some were in trams, and others were at the top. If this ever happened to me, I’d hope to be stuck at the top. I visited the Arch a few years ago, and it has an amazing view of St. Louis. Getting to the top and coming down weren’t as exciting. I’m not sure if the “trams” are still the same, but at that time, they crammed four people into a tiny, egg-shaped elevator that took you to and from the top. Getting stuck in one of those could be quite nerve-racking.
This is Why
Ever wonder why certain stories get so much air-time on television, radio, the internet, etc.? ESPN helps explain why, at least in the world of sports, they cover certain stories so much. You can apply this same logic to the world outside of sports, I assume. Kind of a long read, but it’s interesting. It’s all about the storyline.

Vitamin Water
Count me among the masses that is jumping on the Vitamin Water bandwagon. I decided to give it a shot today for the first time. Previously, I was disappointed with Aquafina’s take on flavored water. But, I can handle Vitamin Water’s “revive” flavor (fruit punch). I’m sure I’d at least like the grape and possibly a few other flavors.
Coke must be impressed too. They decided to buy the company for $4.1 billion dollars. Somebody somewhere has a lot of cash in their pocket today. And it’s not 50 Cent.

Skim Cows
Good news skim milk fans! Someday, we may be able to get skim milk straight from the cow. What a wonderful world….
