I just heard the first single off the Dave Matthews Band’s newest album, Stand Up. The single is titled “American Baby.” It’s built around a plucked violin riff, and for the most part, is pretty straight-ahead. Nothing fancy from Carter on the drums. LeRoi (saxophone) doesn’t appear until just before the end of the song, but the song does lend itself to solos and improvisation at the end. We’ll see what they end up doing with it live. The album will be released on May 10th. If you can’t wait that long, the third installment of their DMBLIVE series will be released on Thursday (available only through DMB’s website).

You’ve gotta be kidding me

Animal rights activists are upset about a new “road kill” candy.

I think this is hilarious:

“It sends the wrong message to children, that it’s OK to harm animals. And that’s the wrong message, especially from a so-called wholesome corporation like Kraft,” said society spokesman Matthew Stanton.

What are we supposed to do? Slam on the brakes, get out and help the animals along? Last I checked, people didn’t drive around trying to run over animals. It’s candy! Get over it!

Bill’s Blog

with one comment

WLEX meteorologist Bill Meck has a blog. It’s actually a bit more infomative than his forecasts on the news broadcast.

I’ve sort of taken a very slight interest in the weather and what creates our weather. After all, being in Kentucky, we get some crazy weather (go outside and get a feel of the upper-50’s February temps right now). Now, I have another source of education.
