Evans It Is - and Pro-Mark

without comments

I’ve settled on using Evans drumheads on my entire drumset.  To this point, I liked using Remo’s Fiberskyn & Clear Ambassador heads on my snare & toms, while using Evans EMAD heads on my bass drum.

I ordered the Evans J1 Etched heads for my snare & toms last week, and I’m very pleased with their sound.  Next up, I’m replacing my bottom heads with Evans Clear G1’s on the toms and a Hazy 300 on the snare.  I’m also going to give the EMAD 2 a whirl on my kick (a double-ply, or thicker, version of what I’m currently using on my kick).

I’ve also been highly impressed with the Evans EQ Pad inside my kick drum.  Along with a new DW 4000-series kick pedal, my bass drum had undergone a makeover in the last week.  It’s sounding very good right now.  I’ll be interested to get the EMAD 2 on there to see how it sounds.
Aside from heads, I’ve settled on a drumstick, as well.  I’ve spent the last several months switching between different Vic Firth models, and more recently, Pro-Mark.  Brad’s Music Center is a Pro-Mark dealer, and per my request, ordered a batch of 747 sticks.  I’ve bought three pairs so far, and I love ‘em.  They feel great in my hands.  Very happy with these.
