Mixing Has Started
Last night, I started mixing & mastering the new JMB album – Not So Easily Pleased. I’m three songs in, as of right now, and I’d give the mixes a B at this point. Everything’s sounding good, but it still needs to be tweaked to sound great. I’m somewhat disappointed in the snare & tom sounds that ended up going to tape, but there’s not much I can do now! That’s the glory of the mixing process though – I can EQ and compress and do whatever needs to be done to get the desired sound. I take pride in my mixes, and I’m going to be very picky about this album!!
I’ll use this week to finish a “first draft” of mixes for the entire album, let the band hear it, and go from there. We’re trying to get it completed by the end of this month.
Most of my free moments in the coming days will be spent on this project…
