My Bestest Website

with 3 comments

This is a post about my favorite site, of which I’m the webmaster.  It belongs to the Lexington Brass Band.  Graphically, it ain’t the greatest.  However, the combination of the design and content make it a very useful site.  I enjoy keeping up with the site because the band librarian constantly supplies me with information, and stays on my case until it gets updated!  The site uses tables (shh…don’t tell anyone), but it’s also the first site I’ve designed that incorporates CSS.  After checking out the Cincinnati Brass Band’s website (no link because it’s not a good site, and I don’t want to shame the webmaster of their site), I’m pretty pleased with LBB’s site (if I do say so myself).

  1. Yo, the “more info” hyperlinks on that site are too hard to spot. I know the color is matching the background, but can it be more pronounced?

  2. Here I am, trying to pat myself on the back, and you go finding something wrong with my work! :-)

  3. From a content standpoint, the CBB site is great. Very informative. Being a graphic artist, however, I’m also interested in something that is visually appealing. The CBB is pretty basic visually, but gets the job done.

Perhaps my comment about their site was a bit harsh. I appreciate you pointing it out.

As for the NABBA performance, I’m with you - I’m surprised they did not mention it on the site. The director (Dr. Holz) and the band librarian are responsible for supplying me with content for the site, and they haven’t sent me anything. By all indications, they performed very well and had a great time.
