No Pain No… Losing Weight?

with one comment

After several months of irregularly attending the gym, I’ve seemingly fallen back into a routine. At one point, I was down to 175lbs. - the same weight I was at 18 years old. I stopped going regularly, but was satisfied that I’d been able to stay around 180. Last Monday night, I discovered I was up to 189. That was enough motivation to start going regularly again.

I cycled five days last week, averaging buring around 300 calories each time. I’ve found that I enjoy cycling because you can sit there and read a book, listen to music, watch TV, talk on the phone - all at once, if you wish. When you’re jogging on a treadmill, you’re limited to music and/or TV. The advantage to jogging is you can burn more calories quicker than cycling. But, then again, the cycling is less taxing and more enjoyable.

I’ve set a goal to burn 1500-2000 calories per week (about a full day’s worth of food). As long as I can stay commited, it shouldn’t take too long to get back to around 175, and possibly my goal weight of 170 (supposedly, my recommended weight for my body mass index).

I had good night tonight - jogged & walked for about 45 minutes, and cycled for another 10 minutes, burning a total of 500 calories. I’m up to 800 calories burned so far this week.

And now… it’s time for bed!
