I experienced something I’ve never had to experience before tonight. I had to root against the University of Kentucky basketball team. That’s because they were playing an exhibition (a game that doesn’t really count, as far as records and stats go) against my alma mater, Georgetown College. It was an odd feeling hoping that UK would lose. I’ve never wanted that to happen.

In fact, at one point, it slipped my mind who UK was playing and I caught myself being excited that UK had just scored. Then, I came to my senses and went back to cheering for the Tigers.

Georgetown represented themselves well, despite losing by 22 points. It’s funny to think that at some point this year, UK will probably beat a solid NCAA team by the same margin. Both schools seemingly have extremely promising seasons ahead of them. I hope that come March, I find myself excited to see Georgetown bringing home the NAIA championship and UK winning the NCAA title. We may have to revisit this post in a few months…
